Natascha Hagenbeek: Freedom in Today’s Culture
Natascha Haagenbeek held a lecture performance describing her current work and closely-related interests.
“I examine the concepts of authenticity and freedom in identity. In my work—a long period of research which usually develops into a performance—I investigate these ideas by using identification and trying to avoid appropriation. I believe in the necessity of experiment and the power of experience, in order to reflect on oneself and attempt to remain ‘free’ or ‘authentic’ in today’s culture.” (Text: Natascha Hagenbeek)
Natascha Hagenbeek lives as an artist in Amsterdam. In 2005/2006, she was a researcher in the fine art department at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht/NL.
