The next “ORF Long Night of Museums” takes place on Saturday, October 7th 2017 all over Austria. For the 18th time, the ORF is initiating this cultural event in which also the Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen participates again. Museums and galleries open their doors from 6 pm to 1 am for night owls with an interest in culture. On top of the varied exhibitions, they offer many exciting events and special presentations. Visitors can choose their personal highlights from a wide variety and can visit all participating locations and events with only one ticket.

Tickets and Booklets are available from the beginning of September 2017 at all museums and institutions participating in this programme. On the night itself, tickets can be purchased at the Museum Information Point, situated in every state capital, and in the museums. Ticket prices are € 15.– (regular ticket) and € 12.– (reduced price for Ö1 Club members, school children, students, senior citizens, disabled persons, and males in their obligatory term of military or civilian service). Regional tickets are € 6.– and entitle tickets holders to admission to regional museums. Free admission for children age 12 and under. You can get more information here.

Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is an establishment of the Tiroler Künstler:innenschaft. As a center for production, research, and discussion in the fields of visual arts and theory it provides a forum for direct exchange
between professionals—artists, theoreticians, critics, and curators—from the region and abroad as well as a point of interaction with local publics of interest. Büchsenhausen brings together two programs
under one roof. On the one hand, it is the site of the Fellowship Program for Art and Theory which invites artists and art-theorists to come to Innsbruck for one or two semesters to work on their projects. On the other hand, it is a location of studios for artists based in Tyrol.

During this year’s Long Night of Museums, for one thing visitors who come to the Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen will see the autumn/winter exhibition of the Fellowship Program for Art and Theory 2017/18 that opened one evening before. On the Natures of Things: Contingency—Resistiveness—Invisibility—Desire shows current works of the new fellows – Marianna CHRISTOFIDES · Belit SAĞ · Julie SAS · Jan SIEBER – and provides some insight into their respective proposals for the coming months. For another thing those artists working in Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen Katharina CIBULKA, Kata HINTERLECHNER & Bosko GASTAGER, Stephan PIRKER, Nora SCHÖPFER, Maria WALCHER and Benjamin ZANON will be opening their studios to offer insights into the diverse production of contemporary art in the Tyrol. The artists cordially invite you to visit them, take a good look around, and enjoy some stimulating conversation.

In addition, visitors will be rewarded for making their way to Büchsenhausen with some special attractions: Katharina CIBULKA is presenting the “KEMATOSKOP” she has developed for the Neue Heimat Tirol, which – part periscope, part kaleidoscope – will open up new perspectives for Kematen as from November 2017. Kata HINTERLECHNER focuses attention at the entrance, with an artistic intervention on the outside of the Künstlerhaus’ garden wall, and will also guide visitors through her studio together with Bosko GASTAGER. Stephan PIRKER is tempting us with a sound performance especially conceived for the acoustics of the Stiegenhaus at Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen, which will take place at 8.15 pm and 11.15 pm. Furthermore, a surprise will be in store for visitors to Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen during the Long Night of Museums with a new selection of works by Nora SCHÖPFER, Maria WALCHER and Benjamin ZANON.
