Windows to Kyiv

Marian Beresh: Fragment from the series "Windows to Kyiv", 2024

OPENING: 22 February 2024, 20.30

On the occasion of February 24, 2024, the second anniversary of the large-scale war against Ukraine, several windows on the façade of the RFDINSEL Artspace in front of the theatre in Innsbruck are covered with sketch-like scenes from Kyiv and its surroundings. The Windows to Kyiv make fragments of Ukrainian reality visible in the center of Innsbruck – abandoned buildings hit by missiles that until recently were home to many people, debris on deserted streets.

Marian Beresh, an architect, photographer and artist living in Kyiv, has captured the traces of war with simple, quick lines, echoing the fleetingness of moments that can change a whole life.

At night, the windows are illuminated, a permanent reminder that the war is still going on: “War is not over and we still need your support!” (Marian Beresh)

The project is a collaboration between Office Ukraine Innsbruck und RFDINSEL.

Marian Beresh was born in 1996 in Ternopil, Ukraine. He is currently based in Kyiv. Marian studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. His work interests are mainly focused on urbanism and revitalization.
