Zur Errettung des Christentums (en.: For the Salvation of Christianity)

In the Visiting Artists series, Vienna artist Franz Kapfer spoke about his work and presented his project Zur Errettung des Christentums.

With Zur Errettung des Christentums, Franz Kapfer delivers a series of works consisting of photography and sculpture that deal with the construction of Austrian identity and history. “In his works, Franz Kapfer has constructed something like a forest of symbols in which the various ensembles become explicit and form something like a park of sculptures and images.[…] The symbols are freed of their anchors and thus provide a clear view of what they generate and their social formations, with all their unreality.”
(Martin Prinzhorn, in: Franz Kapfer, Zur Errettung des Christentums, Vienna 2006)
