À travers l’encoche d’un voyage dans la bibliothèque coloniale. Notes pittoresques

Brigitta Kuster concluded her project Germany trait d’union Cameroon with a screening of the video À travers l’encoche d’un voyage dans la bibliothèque coloniale. Notes pittoresques which she produced during her stay at the Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen.

The video by Brigitta Kuster and Moïse Merlin Mabouna deals with the scene of the so-called myth of “first contact”—in this case with the first encounter between the German expedition led by Captain Curt von Morgen and the ancestors of Moïse Merlin Mabouna. The film goes on a journey through the colonial library, meaning not only the archive and documents but conceptual landscapes and epistemological framing. The premiere was followed by a discussion.
