Streifen am Horizont. Formen des Übergangs. Bilderzählungen der Moderne.

In a talk with architectural historian Rixt Hoekstra and the students in her seminar Female Architects in Architectural History, Birgit Schlieps showed and discussed, among other things, excerpts from the film 2 ou 3 choses que je sais d’elle (en.: Two or Three Things I Know About Her, 1966) by Jean Luc Godard. Godard’s film concerns alienation and prostitution as it related to the urban modernization of the mid-sixties. Global restructuring has caused similar conditions to emerge one generation later. The result was an image-in-image dialogue.

Birgit SCHLIEPS (*1968 in Stuttgart) lives as an artist and editor in Berlin. Among other things, she was Assistant Professor of Experimental Design, Art and Architecture at the TU in Berlin (1999-2005) and Assistant Lecturer at the Department of the History and Theory of Design, Berlin University of the Arts (2006/07).
Schlieps has been exhibiting internationally since 1992. Publications include: Rohmodelle/Raw Models, Revolver Verlag 2005; Konstitution von Raum 2057. Recherche, Bild & Architektur Sept 06/Oct 07, UdK 2007.
