Nikolina Žunec

Nikolina Žunec aka Nikolina Schuh Netz, born in a Croatian city, studied sociology in Zagreb and came to Austria in 2003 for love, where she began making visual art. Her artistic work oscillates between children’s art, art brut, outsider art, and multimedia. The themes of her works range from personal crises and addiction, loneliness, and fear to questions of identity, transition, consumerism, and alienation in modern societies. Contemporary issues, childhood memories, physicality, and the subject as well as the big questions of humanity are combined into sculptures, collages, and multimedia images using tape and acrylic, iron-on beads, scraps of paper and ink, hashtags, and QR codes.
