In the artist talk taking place in the context of the group exhibition FREEFILMERS MARIUPOL, on view until February 23 at Kunstraum Innsbruck, Ukrainian artist Kateryna Lisovenko will talk about her artistic practice, starting with her work Body of the Empire (2023). Her research focuses on power and ideology and the transition from the Soviet Union to today, with topics ranging from dominance by the art academy to right-wing violence, religious oppression, and harassment.

Her work included in the exhibition FREEFILMERS MARIUPOL is an attempt to view landscape as a body. War shows very clearly that the state is a body and can be attacked by another state body. War turns every meter of territory into living and dead flesh, every meter becomes a pain.
