Statement on the current situation
Dear friends of Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen,
We would like to inform you about the current situation at our institution.
Due to the mobility restrictions introduced in mid-March 2020 and the further measures necessary to combat the coronavirus pandemic, Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen will be closed to the public until further notice. The decree of quarantine for the whole region of Tyrol led, among other things, to an early, and in a few cases, quite difficult journey back home amongst the present participants of the Fellowship Program for Art and Theory. Other Fellows were currently traveling abroad and could not return to Innsbruck. As a result the Fellowship program had to be intermitted. This involves also a postponement of the Second Focus Week 2020, originally planned for this week (30 March – 5 April), as well as the concluding exhibition at the Kunstpavillon of Tiroler Künstler*schaft (originally scheduled from mid-May to early August 2020).
Nevertheless, the current situation does not mean an early end of the Fellowship year 2019-20. Upon consultation with Fellows and colleagues at the Kunstpavillon, both the planned events and the exhibition will take place at a later date.
Furthermore a change of studios for artists based in the area was scheduled for the end of March. Due to the current situation three of the six artists working in the house could not leave on time, and as a result the new studio users could not move in. We have found now a short-term solution by use of a three months-postponement of eviction for the artists moving out, and by offering the possibility of temporary storage in the large salon of the Künstlerhaus for the artists moving in.
We will gladly keep you informed about further developments at the Künstlerhaus, either by email (registration via Link ‘Newsletter’), on our website or via Facebook.
In the meantime, we wish you all the best! Stay healthy!
